Worship at the Cathedral depends on the efforts of more than 100 parishioners whose support and dedication allows services to run smoothly. We encourage you to consider being involved in any of the following areas.

Acolytes. Youth acolytes in the 5th grade or above serve at the Sunday morning services. After a required training session, they join one of the acolyte teams. Acolytes also serve at weddings and some special services. For more information, contact Dan Murphy, 404-365-1034, or Rev. Ed Fuller, 404-386-9437.

Adult Acolytes. We use adult acolytes at Evensong services and during the summer at the 11:15 Eucharist. There is a required training session. For more information, contact Dan Murphy, 404-365-1034.

Altar Guild. Members of the altar guild set up for the Eucharistic services on Sunday and for the weekday Eucharist's at 12:15. Members are trained and mentored by senior members. For information, contact Dan Murphy, 404-365-1034.

Baptism Guild. Members assist families preparing for baptism, prepare baptismal certificates and greet the baptismal families on Sunday. To volunteer, please call Dottie Fluker, 404-240-0070.

Brass and Silver Polishing. Teams get together during the week to polish the many altar vessels and candlesticks that we use in our worship. To offer your assistance, call Dan Murphy, 404-365-1034.

Eucharistic Ministers. These persons administer the chalice of wine at our Eucharistic services. Training by our coordinator Holly Conley is required, and a commitment to serve on a rotation at our Sunday Eucharists. A license from the Bishop is given after training. To express an interest in this ministry, please contact Dan Murphy, 404-365-1034.

Eucharistic Visitors. These persons are trained to bring Holy Communion to members of the Cathedral who can't attend church on Sunday. They are licensed by the Bishop, and meet quarterly to share issues of their pastoral and sacramental ministry. If interested, please contact Dan Murphy, 404-365-1034.

Flower Guild. The members of this guild prepare and arrange all of the Sunday flowers for the Cathedral and our chapels, as well as prepare wedding and funeral flowers. The guild also offers flower-arranging events and classes. If you are interested, please call Dan Murphy, 404-365-1034.

Funeral Committee. This group of volunteers assist the clergy and families in need when there is a funeral at the Cathedral. In addition to offering hospitality, they prepare the altar and usher. For more information, please contact Dan Murphy, 404-365-1034.

Intercessors. These persons read the Prayers of the People at the 8:45 and 11:15 Eucharists on Sunday morning. Training and prayer is required. For more information, please contact Dan Murphy, 404-365-1034.

Lectors. These persons read the readings from scripture at the Sunday services. Training in reading texts is required, and lectors read on a rotation basis. To be a lector, please contact Dan Murphy, 404-365-1034.

Lay Readers. These members are licensed by the Bishop to read morning and evening prayer both at the Cathedral and at various nursing facilities that we serve. Training and commitment is required. To inquire about this ministry, please contact Dan Murphy, 404-365-1034.

Ushers. Our Cathedral ushers greet persons attending Sunday services, distribute bulletins and assist in the general flow of the service, especially assisting with Communion. There are usher teams and a team normally serves every ten-eleven weeks. To volunteer, please call Emile Fisher, 404-355-5377.

Vergers. These persons, appointed by the Dean, help design and organize the liturgies of the Cathedral and work with the Canon Precentor on Diocesan and Cathedral liturgies.
