Adult Education: Sundays and During the Week

Join a Sunday School class this fall and discover a way of deepening your faith while defining relationships. Contact Canon John Mark Wiggers, 404-365-1105, or Amanda Stephenson, 404-365-1080 if you have questions about Adult Education. An array of Adult Christian Education classes, taught by Cathedral clergy, staff, lay members, and guests from the community, are offered from 10:10–11:05 a.m. on Sunday mornings.

The Dean’s Forum (Child Hall)
From September through May, Dean Sam Candler leads “The Dean’s Forum” in Child Hall. With special guest speakers, current topics, and striking conversations, the Forum always has something for everyone! The Dean's Forum will resume in January 2009.

Old Fashioned Sunday School (Room 382)
On December 21, The Rev. Harry Pritchett and Canon Maxwell will facilitate a discussion of the second paragraph of the Nicene Creed, specifically using the concept of metaphor to relate the claims of the Creed about Jesus to our experiences of the birth of our Lord at Christmas. As always, coffee will be provided, discussion will be encouraged and good humor will be rewarded!

Faith and Literature (Room 370)
This class will resume in January. In this class we will read and discuss short stories by some of the world’s best authors as they write about experiences of faith, spirituality and religion. Join us for the year or drop in on a particular story of interest. Each class stands on its own. All are welcome! The class is facilitated by Ward Bondurant.

Amos and Hosea (Room 380)
Join us for an in-depth look at these two prophets and the Old Testament books named for them. The class will be facilitated by Jim Bingham and Gordon Mathis.

Introduction to the Old Testament (Room 368)
This class explores the basic tenets of our Christian faith. It is designed to give an overview of our Scriptures, focusing on key people, events, and themes. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the Bible!

Evening 20s30s Spiritual Discussion (7:45 p.m.–Atrium)
Join the 20s30s each Sunday evening as we discuss topics ranging from spirituality to rituals of the Episcopal church. We meet each Sunday in the sitting area to the left of the stairs in the Atrium beginning at 7:45 p.m., or when the 7 p.m. service in St. Mary’s Chapel ends. For more information contact Dana King or Canon Wiggers at 404 365-1105.
